DAVID and Victoria Beckham’s comedic exchange on their Netflix docu-series could land them a Bafta.

It saw the ex-England captain mock his former Spice Girl wife for claiming she had a working class upbringing — despite her dad driving her to school in a Rolls-Royce.

As Posh, 49, tried to tell the camera crew about her youth, Becks, 48, appeared from behind a door to encourage her to “be honest”.

The clip went viral — and is now up against five others for the Memorable Moment at the TV Baftas.

Also in contention are the end of BBC’s Happy Valley, Ncuti Gatwa’s arrival in Doctor Who, Logan Roy’s death in Succession, teen Lucy’s performance on Channel 4’s The Piano and the story of Bill and Frank in zombie drama The Last of Us.

A TV insider said: “Posh and Becks’ documentary Beckham faces some stiff competition, but given how many viewers watched the show on Netflix it might just triumph on the back of people power.

“And the fact that they are in such esteemed company among the incredible nominees shows just what a big impression it made.

“There were some incredible TV moments during 2023, but the Beckhams can count on fans backing them in the voting. It’s the only category where the public get to have their say.”

The clip of David and Victoria was viewed more than a million times on YouTube.

The couple later did a send-up in an Uber Eats commercial in which Victoria wore a T-shirt saying: “My Dad Had a Rolls-Royce.”

The Beckham documentary charted David’s rise from humble beginnings to becoming an international superstar, both as a top-flight footballer and husband to a Spice Girl.

The four-parter broke records when it was released in October and had four million viewers in the first four days.

A panel of critics and other figures from the TV industry gathered a longlist of memorable moments before whittling them down to six.

Voting opens today and closes on April 9, with the winning moment announced at the Bafta TV Awards with P&O Cruises on May 12.

The ceremony will be at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

Nominations for other categories are announced next week.
